SECAT schools awarded School Games Gold Mark 2021/22
September 2022
SECAT are delighted to announce that Bournes Green Junior School, Hinguar Primary School, Richmond Primary School, Thorpedene Primary School and Shoeburyness High School have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme for primary and secondary schools launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active.
As part of the application, schools are asked to fulfil criteria in five areas and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our schools has been rewarded this year.
We are extremely proud of our children and staff for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport. We understand the importance of providing children with inclusive opportunities to participate in sporting experiences both within and outside of school. We want all our children to have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school in our community, including at district, borough and national level.
We will continue to strive to deliver the best physical education and sporting journey, to allow children to develop a knowledge and love for a healthy and active lifestyle.
Thank you to all our staff, parents, carers and children who make this possible. We look forward to achieving more in the 2022/2023 academic year.
